After-School Art Classes

Does your child love to explore and create art? Tumbleweeds’ After-School Art Program offers a rich and inspiring environment for young artists to grow and thrive.

In small, weekly classes, students receive individualized guidance and hands-on instruction as they explore a wide range of techniques—including painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, mixed media, fiber art, recycled, classical, and decorative art, and more.

Our thoughtfully designed curriculum encourages critical thinking, sharpens observational skills, and nurtures each child’s unique artistic voice. With a focus on creativity, experimentation, and self-expression, Tumbleweeds is a place where kids feel supported, inspired, and free to make meaningful art.

We will begin each class with a lesson and discussion based on our weekly topic, then on to our structured project. There will be time to wind down at the end of class and have free drawing time as well as go over what we have learned from that day.

  • Classes run from 3:00 until 5:30 (drop-off after 3:00 is also fine) - Tumbleweeds is a drop-off program / no pick-up

  • For ages 4 (Pre-K) through 17. Children and teens will be grouped by age and developmental level

  • Classes are small for plenty of one-on-one attention

  • All materials provided

  • Classes run Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays - Sign-ups are for one day a week.

  • Limited spots are available! Maximum 6 kids per class.

  • Studio location: 117 Dobbin St. // Greenpoint/Williamsburg, Brooklyn

All Fall/Winter 2025/2026 After-school classes will run every week except on holidays/school closures:

Tuesdays: 16 weeks - September 9th - January 27th // $1840 for the entire semester // * No class on Sept 23rd, Nov 4th, Nov 11th, Dec 23rd, & Dec 30th

Wednesdays: 18 weeks - September 10th - January 28th // $2070 for the entire semester // * No class on Sept 24th, Dec 24th & Dec 31st

Thursdays: 17 weeks - September 11th - January 29th // $1955 for the entire semester // * No class on Oct 2nd, Nov 27th, Dec 25th & Jan 1st.

One-on-one / Private or small group art lessons

Currently scheduling for evenings only!

Designed for children and teens, these lessons focus on nurturing their artistic interests, skills, and techniques. We offer personalized one-on-one and small group lessons covering a variety of mediums, including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, sewing, embroidery, fashion design, and more. We tailor each lesson to your child's specific interests, ensuring a customized curriculum that fosters their creativity and growth. Additionally, our one-on-one and small group sessions can be tailored to support portfolio development, providing comprehensive guidance for young artists.

  • Lessons are scheduled by the semester: Fall/Winter & Winter/Spring

  • All materials provided

  • Rates vary and will be based on your customized lesson(s) / $85 for a private hour lesson or sliding scale if the lessons go beyond an hour and/or consist of more than one student.

  • Currently scheduling for evenings starting at or after 6:00 PM during the school year

  • Flexible Summer availability
